Annual Events

There are always opportunitites to serve as Receptionist, Interviewer, Food Box volunteer, or Meals on Wheels driver. If you own a Truck, you are especially needed on an on-call basis to pick up donated food items! Receive the blessings of service! The reward is heavenly!

Too Hot to Cook 2013!

TOO HOT TO COOK (THTC) is a great opportunity for area restaurants to partner with Longview Community Ministries (LCM) to increase public awareness of hunger in our area. Each year LCM denotes one day as ‘Too Hot to Cook’ and encourages area civic, church and youth groups to enjoy dining out at one of the select restaurants. That day for 2013 is Tuesday, August 27^th! Longview Community Ministries’ request of a $300 donation to the Food Box food pantry results in hundreds of hungry being fed and for your restaurant, it means…

ü  Over 70 partnering churches in the Longview area will promote this special day and encourage their congregations to patronize the participating restaurants

ü  Public Service Announcements are run identifying participating restaurants at no cost to you.

ü  The Longview News-Journal has traditionally run two stories regarding the event – one prior to the event and one the Tuesday of Too Hot to Cook.

ü  An LCM volunteer will deliver table tents and publicity posters to be displayed in your restaurant two weeks prior to THTC. In addition, volunteers will be at your restaurant during THTC to thank patrons for their participation.
